The second cachet commemorates Richie Ashburn's 50 years with the Phillies both as a player and as a broadcaster. It is autographed by Rich Ashburn.

The top right commemorates Jimmie Foxx's career while the second on the right commemorates the statue dedication to Jimmie in his hometown of Sudlersville, MD.

The third and fourth on the right commemorate the great battery of Hall of Fame pitcher Robert Moses "Lefty" Grove and Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane. Both signatures on the cachets are facsimile autographs.

Limited Edition Bobblehead
$125
This is a Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn dual bobblehead honoring them for their many years of Phillies broadcasting excellence. These we given out at Veterans Stadium on game day and were only obtainable by attending the game. They are very, very scarce. One sold on Ebay for over $200. This is in brand new condition.

Hometown Battery old cast iron bank
$195
This is a vintage piece of Americana - an old cast iron "Hometown Battery" coin bank that is in fine working condition. Although this is a great item it is not to be confused with the so-called "Darktown Battery" Mechanical Bank which shows Negro League players and is worth considerably more. (The latter can be found online selling for up to $10,000; this is a great display piece but is not valued anywhere near that much.)

Philadelphia A's autographed ceramic elephant
$225
This beautifully crafted elephant is signed by 16 players: 15 from the old Philadelphia A's and one by Mickey Vernon, 2 time AL league battling champ for the Washington Senators. The A's players are: Forrest "Spook" Jacobs, Morrie Martin, Randy Gumpert, Dick Adams, Al Brancato, Bill Hockenbury, Irv Hall, Billy Werber, Lou Limmer, Gus Zernial, Eddie Joost, Bobby Shantz, Bill Renna, Carl Scheib, Joe Astroth and Allie Clark.
(When Connie Mack bought the A's it was said that he had bought a "White Elephant," meaning it as an insult. Instead of taking it as an insult, Connie Mack used it to his advantage by making it the teams logo. The A's were in Philadelphia from 1901 until 1954 before moving to Kansas City and then Oakland. While in Philly they won 9 pennants and 5 World Series making them STILL the most successful sports team in Philadelphia history.)

Brick from Connie Mack Stadium (Shibe Park) with CoA
$295
This is an actual brick from Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium. It was purchased from a Mr. Steve Stewart of Chalfon, PA by the Philadelphia A's Historical Society in Hatboro in 2002. Mr. Stewart had purchased it along with many other such bricks in Aug. 1982 from Geppert Bros. Construction Company of Colmar, PA who did the demolition of the stadium, to make a patio in his backyard. This is where the bricks sat until 2002. When he realized the historical significance of them he decided to sell them to the Philadelphia A's Historical Society. The brick has a trophy label on the front describing what it is and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a letter from Mr. Stewart of Chalfont, PA, attesting to his purchase of the bricks. This is a great piece of baseball's  past to put on display. One sold at auction for over $500.

1956 Sporting News obituary of CONNIE MACK
$350
This is the original Sporting News article covering the funeral of legendary manager and owner Connie Mack. The 3 pages are in pristine condition and kept in plastic. They are suitable for framing and are a great piece of baseball history. These pages are NOT replicas - they are the actual pages from Feb. 15, 1956 Sporting News. There are actually five pages as two of them are folded over. Some of the news on the back states such things as NY Giants shortstop Alvin Dark tries for 3rd golf title at Miami. And league presidents frown on the idea of an All-Star Game with the Internatioal League. The back of the sheet also shows the 1956 International League schedule. Connie Mack is a unique figure in major league baseball even to this day. "The Grand Old Man of Baseball" played for 11 years from 1886 to 1896, mainly as a catcher for Wash, Buffalo and Pitt. He then managed for 53 years, with Pittsburgh for 3 years and the newly founded Philadelphia Athletics for 50 years from 1901 to 1950, winning nine (9) AL pennants and five (5) World Series Championships along the way, making him the most successful manager in all Philadelphia sports and one of the most successful in all of major league baseball history to this day. No one is even close to managing for that length of time in any professional sport. Connie Mack managed a total of 7,878 games and 43 World Series games winning 24 of them. He is the first manager to win 3 consecutive World Series titles and the only manager in baseball history that never wore a uniform when he managed, choosing instead to wear a suit and tie.
Cornelius (Connie Mack) McGillicuddy was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937.

LIFE MAGAZINE - April 1, 1946
$75
This is a copy of the April 1, 1946 Life Magazine with St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Charles "Red" Barrett on the cover. These early editions usually mentiond spring training for major league baseball. Other topics covered in this post-war issue were politics, the Holy Land and Pearl Harbor. And famous personalities like Danny Kaye and Boris Karloff did print ads for products. One other surprising thing about this issue is the showing of bare-chested Balinese women in another article. A rare occurance for 1946 standards. I guess censorship only pertained to American women, not women from Bali. Not autographed.
